Ace of Hearts by Devyn Morgan
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
another sweet short with a twist that makes it special. brendan never hid he was gay but finding someone who matched him and his sensibilities wasn't easy. moving to a new city, he tries his best to get out and get to know new people. when one of these new people offers him freshly baked cookies he feels wanted and accepted.
when he later find lucas, the cookie-maker, out on the streets being dumped that same evening, he doesn't hesitate to help the young man. they end up moving in together and what starts as a mutual friendship grows into more. but it isn't easy sailing for brendan because when it comes to intimacy he has his own demons that have always kept him limited. but lucas likes him too much to just give up on him.
nicely paced story with a not everyday subject. it's something that is becoming a theme for a book by Devyn.

- I'm a rookie writer enjoying the flow of words sprouting out of my fingers. Sometimes it goes easy, at other times it's a real struggle. I love and crave any kind of feedback, good or bad. I write when I can, but a husband, two kids, 4.2 cats (aging from 15 years to 4 months) do take up most of my time. Yet I found the time to try out something I never thought I was good at. I started writing. I came to love it and enjoy the new friendships I've made with fellow writers I simply adore (well I like the writers, but adore their work *grins*)
