I'm a rookie writer enjoying the flow of words sprouting out of my fingers. Sometimes it goes easy, at other times it's a real struggle. I love and crave any kind of feedback, good or bad. I write when I can, but a husband, two kids, 4.2 cats (aging from 15 years to 4 months) do take up most of my time. Yet I found the time to try out something I never thought I was good at. I started writing. I came to love it and enjoy the new friendships I've made with fellow writers I simply adore (well I like the writers, but adore their work *grins*)

Review: Rockstar Shifter: BBW Paranormal Bear Shifter Romance

Rockstar Shifter: BBW Paranormal Bear Shifter Romance Rockstar Shifter: BBW Paranormal Bear Shifter Romance by Kim Fox
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

womanizer Eddie is forced to change his image because he's not getting the sales his agent wants. his concerts aren't drawing full anymore. his rock stardom is waning. he hasn't written anything new in two years. what he has done is bedded woman after woman, one two three or nine, it didn't matter to him or his bear, he needed an outlet to fill the hole in both their hearts.
when his manager sticks a consult on him to help change his image, he's reeling by the fact the woman wants him to become a whole different person. when he storms out of their restaurant meeting he makes the mistake of looking back to her. his bear has been awake inside of him the whole time, growling and pacing and urging him on, but he pushed him back. when he locks eyes with here the unthinkable happens. his bear imprints on her. marking her as their one perfect match.
angry and confused he doesn't know what hit him but he does sees her very differently from that moment on, like his creativity is back. she's become his new muse.
how will eddie cope with someone who's sole purpose is to life by her strictly made plan and unwillingness to deviate from it?

i loved this from start to finish. does eddie have a twin? i wouldn't mind being serenaded to! sigh, he's such a sweetheart, determined and naughty!
a must have. can't wait for the next one in this series!

Review: Savage

Savage Savage by Kim Faulks
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

one by one she saw her fellow cell mates die when they were fighting against the change. the same was happening to her, it was taking everything she had to fight the animal lurking inside her mind and body. she didn’t want to give in. in the sell next to her, the young woman was battling the same “demon”. she wanted to be strong for both of them and she was sure they would succeed in fighting of the “demon” inside. that wasn’t counting on the guards, they want the change! being warned of she refused to listen. not to the guards, not to the animal within. however she did listen to the other woman fighting in the cell next to her. when the guards enter the cell next to her it becomes clear her cell hasn’t been locked and her animal urges her to run, to escape. one moment she hesitates but then she chooses freedom. she’ll fight for her freedom.

whether she gets out or not i’m not telling, ha! you’ll have to pick up this prequel.
it’s a fast paced story that tells of the struggles inside a person, the battle with another being inside of you. the taste of freedom and the desire to stay that way, betrayal for it being taken away again.
there is little that isn’t covered in the short introduction to a new series.

Review: Hooked

Hooked Hooked by Devyn Morgan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Devyn is becoming quite a star with these short sweet interludes.
we meet jayden, working at a fish shop. not the kind we eat but the kind in aquariums. he lives and breaths fish, it's his hobby and passion. sadly he has no luck finding a partner that understands fish are a big part of his life. then one day Chase enters the shop, a fish circling around in a vase. the fact chase wants to give the fish a proper home and care is already a dozen good marks in jayden's book, that he senses some attraction is another bonus but he's afraid to take that first step.
when a few days later chase shows up again to ask a few things jayden couldn't be more happy. chase gets called away but before he actually leaves he turns back and locks lips with jayden before rushing out!
is this the start of the relationship jayden has always dreamed off? to find out you'll have to grab a copy of your own and enjoy the sweet romance these two people build.

Review: Alphonso's Baby

Alphonso's Baby Alphonso's Baby by Emma Alisyn
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

one night is all it took to turn her life upside down. always a good girl to the local pastor, Tamar looked to have a good future. that was before she gave her virginity to Alphonoso. friends for years, she couldn't help but have a little crush on him, even when he wasn't the most likable person towards others. the result of that one night is what changed everything for her.
shunned by her parents she makes due, keeping shut about who the father to her baby daughter is. these days she's working for Alphonso. she's one of the few that can handle his "social skills" or lack there off. she always managed to keep him away from her baby but one night when she was fed up with him and had her phone turned off changed it all, again.
he almost literally barges into her flat, tamar still tries to hide her daughter but it only takes him one inhale of the little one's scent to know what is going on.
question now is how is everybody going to react to the fact that Alphonso is the father and what will he do?

there is a lot to resolve and even more to talk about. things are only made more complicated when an old ex from alphonso enters the picture, one who brings a whole lot of trouble from his past he'd much rather forget!

a good read, another spellcheck would have been handy and maybe one or two lines in the story that aren't a plus towards woman (it is mentioned in another review)

it was a good read with some devious twists and and a nice ending!

Review: Bite Me

Bite Me Bite Me by Cynthia Dane
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

i have no problem reading BDSM stories, or anything that goes into that direction. we all know it comes in different tastes and likes.
however i'm a bit sad that it didn't captivate me as much as i thought it would. i liked the synopsis and i had high expectations. these aren't quit reached. it felt like 80% of the book they just danced around each other and the narrative overall always didn't feel true. for example at the start he is telling us what she has or hasn't "told" the reader. it is a personal opinion but i can't say it's for me.

i'm still giving it a three stars because the core of the story had merit, the plot could work if the emotions were handled a bit differently. BDSM isn't just spanking and being tied up, throwing in after care doesn't elevate it to a good level, there is so much more that makes it real and more personal. this is a battle between two "equals" that she gives in doesn't sit right with me, at least not the way how. i can't put my finger on it but i would have done it differently.

FFF Payback’s a bitch.

Lorelai was gazing at her phone. She didn’t feel comfortable, a gut feeling nagging and pushing her to contact her friend Trista. She promised! Trista promised to text her once she’s was back home. The uneasiness that crept into her mind only grew worse from the moment Trista told her she was going on a picture hunt down at THE house. Locals warned everybody to stay away, especially at this time of year.
It was almost midnight and she still hadn’t got word back from her friend. She dreaded the outcome and wished things never had to get this far. If only people would listen, they may perceive the warning as some local mumbo jumbo but it couldn’t get more real.
Grabbing her phone for the umpteenth time, she checked for an answer but still nothing appeared. Sound was on, vibrating was on. Lorelai bit her nail, she knew what was coming and she dreaded it. She sighed and resigned herself to her fate. It had to stop. The uneasiness grew tenfold but she just had to suck it up. Collecting herself, she got up and started packing a rug sack. A multitude of herbs disappeared into it together with a vast collection of lidded jars, a pestle and mortar and a tiny camp fire. The sacred book she kept on her person, she couldn’t risk losing that.
Checking the phone one last time, in vain hope of seeing a missed text or call, she sighed. Time to roll and get this over with.
It only took her about ten minutes to find the house and squeeze through the iron gates. She’s seen her friend’s car parked down the street so she knew she had to be here. The sight that greeted her didn’t really boost her confidence. Broken pieces lay scattered all over the grounds. Some looking very human, other looking like tiny cherubs. The one thing they all had in common was the shear horror written on all of their faces, like they were all scared to death. Shaking her head she couldn’t let it get to her, if she did she wouldn’t be able to pull of her spell. She only got the one shot at it.
A sweet sing song voice traveled towards her, the familiar words resounding like mantra over and over:
“Ring-a-round the rosies. A pocket full of posies.
Ashes! Ashes!
We all fall down!”
She knew what would happen next and kept her eyes shut, knowing that the next few moments were critical, literally life or death. Silently she repeated a mantra to keep her safe and protected.
“In this place and in this hour
By the guardians of the secrets of the night
Take the keys to my heart
And close the doors of my mind.”
Once the voice trailed off and a few extra minutes, Lorelai was sure it was safe to open her eyes again and go further onto the property. Behind some bushes was a scene she’d been dreading even she since she knew her friend was going to come here. A grey stone tripod lay on the ground with a smashed grey camera next to it. A bit further were the scattered remains of her friend Trista, mouth open in a dead scream, eyes looking right up into the sky.
Lorelai gave herself a minute to mourn her friend before she was going to tackle to hardest thing she’d ever done in her life. Looking around, all the other “debris” was proof that whatever entity inhabited one of the sculptures was close to gaining mortal status. That could not happen. If it did it was like giving the whole town a death sentence.
Grabbing her backpack, she emptied the contents on one of the slates scattered around the secluded garden. The tiny camping stove, balancing precariously next to it, her pestle and mortar on the other side. The copper pot made her prep work complete. She started cooking water, while waiting for that to boil she tossed several herbs together and started grinding them up until a thick gooey paste was left. It looked disgusting but it was the only way to deal with these beings. Checking the water she saw it was ready to be mixed with the other ingredients. A drop here, a few drops there, a spoonful from this and a dash from something else. At the last minute she added the herb mix. Now it was crucial she didn’t mess up.
Either she failed and the entity got free reign or she succeeded and hoped with abolishing “it” she could return a few of the lost soul “it” had killed over the years.
Preparing herself for a lengthy time or meditative talking, she got into a comfortable position. Said a silent prayer to her Goddess Kali and started to hum the first one out of one hundred and eight, each one marked with a dot from the paste she made.
“Om namo kali kapali dahi dahi swaha ll”
The sing song voice returned, first it sounded gentle, coaxing her but as she kept on with her mantra, each time she’d spoke it marked with another herbal dot, forming a firm circle around. Then the voice started screaming at her. Fifty-four times and the circle would close around her, giving her an extra layer of protection. Helping her keep her focus. All she had to do now was repeat them fifty-four times more, doubling each dot already there.
She knew she was succeeding and dared to open her eyes. The cherub-like being was hovering over her, growing in size, the voice changing as well. Gone was the sweet innocence, replaced with the dark and dangerous rumble fitting to a creature that stood over her. Horns grew from its temples, the grey hue changing to a deep red, wings sprouting from its back.
One hundred times, eight more.
“Om namo kali kapali dahi dahi swaha ll”
A portal opened beneath the demon, swallowing it hole. Exhausted and drained, she fell unconscious until a panicked but familiar voice tried to wake her.
More voices started to penetrate her consciousness.

All she could do was smile and hug Trista.

Review: You've Got Bear

You've Got Bear You've Got Bear by Truli Thorne
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

five years of scraping together cash to make her dream come true of having her own chocolate shop is crushed when after a few months of dwindling sales her savings are tapped out and she has no reserve to find a new place to hire, since the current mall where she's residing has closed down all the leases.
when it's her last day, the security guard (a former ex who has issues with being and staying an ex) waltzes in accompanied with a handsome man. butterflies start fluttering around in her stomach but it doesn't last long when eventually the cat get out the bag and the handsome man turns out to be the one who put her out on the street!
Zach has other ideas with the curvy woman, specially when his bear is rumbling like crazy that she's their fated mate.
now you wonder what he has to do to win her over? well, a lot! he can't just listen to his bear, he would just pick her up caveman style and have his wicked ways with her, mate her and be done with it, then deal with the outcome. not a smart thing to do.
the suspense was killing me but eventually people came to their senses. my only observation would be that she could have let Zach grovel a bit more before just accepting him and his bear ;-)

i think we're getting close to the finale as more and more pieces are falling into place. people are "waking" up and realizing a lot more is happening then meets the eye. others are being oscar-grade actors at how they're being able to keep deceiving those close to them.
you can't miss this part in the series. it's getting addictive wanting to know what is going to happen.

Review: Into the Light

Into the Light Into the Light by Tami Lund
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

what a sweet read. i really enjoyed this book and had a hard time putting it down!
when after 10 years Tanner is found and is more or less forced to go back to his pack. his poor excuse of a father/alpha has a living lightbearer. obsessed with their existence he's over the moon to have been able to capture one and now he wants his son, Tanner, to kill "it" and take over the magical powers.
only Tanner doesn't want to kill anything or anyone. sworn enemies, he can't help but feel something for the young woman that is being held captive and he tries to come up with numerous ways of setting her free, coming up with nothing. as both stand in front of the whole pack he tells her for the umpteenth time he doesn't want to harm her, that he wants her to be free and for them to accomplish that, they need a distraction.
with little of the power that is left in her she blinds the pack surrounding them.
making a quick and swift getaway, they're helped by Tanner's childhood friend and his heavily pregnant mate. they want out of the pack too and see this as a good opportunity to leave.
it's the start of a journey full of emotions, heartache, death, happiness, prejudice and acceptance.
this story really is a refreshing read and i enjoyed it from the first page till the last page! a must have

Review: Hunger Moon

Hunger Moon Hunger Moon by Melissa Snark
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

what a read! the werewolves in this world are a fresh breeze to read. they're unique and different. weaving in the viking legends and history makes them just that little (doh) bit different to keep you going with the story.
victory is struggling to provide for what is left of her pack. freya has sent them to another area, supposedly her lifemate lives there. the initial meet goes ok'ish. meeting his son goes less then ok, it seems no matter what either of them say they rub each other the wrong way.
the longer victoria is there, the more she is convinced there is more going on then father and son are telling her. when she starts her own investigation, the spirits she talks with only confirm her suspicions and it's then when the real story takes of.
will she be able to dig to the bottom of things? will she be able to bond with her lifemate or is his son the everlasting thorn in her side preventing anything from happening?
it's a well build story with numerous twists and turns that have you gasping for air. this isn't a short so be prepared to bury yourself under your blanket with drinks and snacks nearby because it's hard to put the book down and walk away!!

Review: Earth's Hope

Earth's Hope Earth's Hope by Ann Gimpel
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

i'm a bit sad this book ends the earth reclaimed trilogy! it was just a rollercoaster ride of a book like the two previous ones. thwarted at every turn, the dragon "kids" being tricked, being torn apart, people being near death. dewi being dewi... there is so much you can say about this book but one thing you can not say is that it's a disappointment. just the opposite. don't expect a quick fix solution, it's a tough battle they have to fight and almost lose. unexpected help is what they'll need.
if you were sucked into book one and two you will experience just the same with book three.
sigh i want a Celt of my own now, they're just so ....

Review: Shiftr: Swipe Left for Love

Shiftr: Swipe Left for Love Shiftr: Swipe Left for Love by Ariana Hawkes
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

three days it all it took for her life to be turned upside down. her husband didn’t want her, and their daughter, anymore, preferring a younger, thinner version, one who also turns out to be pregnant.
she packs up and drives back to her home town where her sister.
when she’s in a nasty accident all she can think about is her daughter. she can’t move, can’t get out. when the firefighters arrive one of them risks life and limb to get them out, just in the nick of time!
bruno can’t help but to want to help the woman. there is something about her. yet he keeps fighting his emotion and his bear. when his brothers taunt him a little about getting the dating app, he’s reluctant and only caves, installing the app to help out a close friend.
lori is glad to be wrapped up in her sister’s new family, every one of their partner's hotter then the next. it doesn’t take long for her sister and her friend to let her in on their secret. shifters are real and their significant others, are their fated mates, man who can turn into animals at will. lion, wolves, bears they’re all real. it takes one of them actually shifting for her to really believe them. once she’s settled down they also introduce her to the local dating app.
she’s surprised to find bruno on there, even more surprising is the fact the app states they’re a 100% match. nothing can go wrong, or can it?
why is bruno fighting so hard not to take for what is his for the taking?
what will it take for him to see what is right in front of him?
what a story this is. i can only hope there are a lot more sisters and nieces, maybe even brothers (there should be female shifters too right?). i’m in love with this series and it’s a joy to read every single one of them!!

Review: Bearly in Time

Bearly in Time Bearly in Time by Erin Kelly
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

it could have done with another round of proofreading to prune out a few typo's and make sure the lay-out was ok. there were quite a few cut off sentences that shouldn't have been there.
the build up has a nice pace to it, not too rushed, attraction there on both parts but also some resistance. it wasn't wham bam thank you ma'm.
what i did find a bit inconsistent is that never in the book was told how the world views shifters. are they known, are they a hidden legend, are they believed to be myth and fairy tales? at one point the female lead just accepts the fact he's a werebear and that she knew, no explanation whatsoever. this is one area where the writer could have brought in a nice background to the island and her own shifterworld.
despite these issues i still enjoyed the book, it gave me a nice few moments to dream away with.

all the stories in this collection all well written. however reading this fresh i did felt a bit of a disconnection because quite a few are next in series. it doesn't bring down the level of penmanship. so think about that first. if you have read the first one, i'm pretty sure this will be a must have to complete the serials you started reading earlier.

there are so many stories in this one, it would take too much time to review every single one of them.
some are better then the others. some are very creative and original, others a bit on the corny side and could do with a bit more thought put into the dialogue.

Review: Lyric's Accidental Mate

Lyric's Accidental Mate Lyric's Accidental Mate by Elle Boon
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

out with friends Lyric is trying to have some fun and dance the night away when a bunch of men try to sweet talk her into coming with them. when she refuses, they more or less manhandle her outside where things go from bad to worse. a stranger steps in to try and help her but he's human, still strong and a skilled fighter she notes but a human. as the fight continues and things are more of a status quo, the stranger gets bitten by one of the men. knowing what will happen Lyric doesn't think twice to bite the stranger herself, linking him to her own pack instead. not sure what her brother and the alpha would make of her move, she decides to take the man on a little road trip. knowing the first few days are going to change a lot for him now he's been bitten and will become a werewolf just like herself.
if you think things will go easy from there on you're wrong. that's when the real trouble starts.
her wolf and his wolf know the score, it's her human part that is holding back a little bit because she wants him, the man, to choose her as well, not just his wolf in the heat of passion when he shifts for the first time.
this is a wonderful fast paced story that doesn't leave you hanging in the end. it's clear there are other possible matings in the works so i'm double crossing my fingers and toes that there will be more of this group of wolves!!

Review: Starstruck Shifter: Celebrity Bears

Starstruck Shifter: Celebrity Bears Starstruck Shifter: Celebrity Bears by Kim Fox
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

when it comes to the filmindustry, if you don't have an ace film out , your star starts to dim a little. we find mason filming a mediocre cookiecutter film. his PR man wants him to pretend to have a fling with the obnoxious co-star. he goes along but only reluctantly.
it's that his attention fell onto Joni. tho her studies should get her an in into the film buisiness, all she's able to get is picking up garbage. mooning over mason her second hobby. it becomes a bit more real when he comes to her aid when she's stung by a bee. she's a bit starstruck but also not sure what to make of it. she feels some kind of attraction but mason doesn't act like it, especially when she sees pictures of him smooching with his co-star.
it's then the story gets interesting because mason isn't prepared to let her go just yet. his bear is too invested in her.
it's a sweet story with nice twists and turns, two people getting to know each other and making that all important bond for life.
it's a short read that will leave you fulfilled and happy. a must read

i wish i could give this ten stars! Elle you did it again, and again, and again....
i loved each book just as much as all the others in these series. each couple that has to overcome their differences before accepting each other. after each book i was happy, after all four i was ecstatic.
i'm just wondering if Gio and Isobel will get a story of their own? pls say yes? you know how things more or less turn out but i really would like to know what made Gio change, stubborn old wolf that he is!
as for the readers, if you like your tigers, panthers, bears and what more, Elle's shifters are to die for! i'm always impatient because i force myself to wait for boxed sets because i know once i start reading them i want to read them all in one go. this one was no different from the others.
for the love of shifters, Elle, give me more!

Review: THE LONGEST NOTE

THE LONGEST NOTE THE LONGEST NOTE by Karolyn James
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

once more we're given a story where two unlikely people are a perfect match for each other!
Ryker went AWOL, needing time for himself, to reach out to the people who made it all happen for Willow Son. it takes a few days for the band to track him down but when they do Ryker is smart enough to realize he has to make some kind of sacrifice to make amends. he offers them to have a competition and he'll go out with one girl, date night, in front of camera's.
Alyson is trying her best to make ends meet, even living for free with her rich BFF isn't easy. she prefers to stay at home and study and work for her MBA. but her friend isn't having any of it. devious as her friend can be she has entered them both in the Willow Son date-competition. much to Alyson's surprise she's selected to be with the last few girls. it all happens so fast and she feels like a fish on dry land.
it's THE night and Ryker happens to find a group of giggling girls, herded together. there is one who catches his eye, one who stands out, one he feels instantly attracted too. he can't help but to tease her and push her buttons.
they're like day and night, fire and ice and yet they seem to make it work. it's a story with ups and downs, reality checking in on more then one occasion. there is love, friendship, loyalty, trust. each one just as important as the other. the depth of the emotions real and recognizable!
this one just has to be in your library if you have read prior books from Willow Son. imo it's needs a six star rating

Once Bitten: Paranormal BBW Shifter Romance - Werebear, Werewolf, Weretiger, Wererhino Multi-Author Box Set Once Bitten: Paranormal BBW Shifter Romance - Werebear, Werewolf, Weretiger, Wererhino Multi-Author Box Set by V. Vaughn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

it didn't take me long to complete this book. quite a few of the stories i had read up front and the few i still had to read were just a breeze.
as stated these are all part of serial stories, some are easier to read alone, other may require having read prior books BUT that doesn't break down the book in the collection at all. even more so it gets you craving the other books.
V Vaughn, Anna Lowe, Elle Thorne to name but a few all excel in weaving their stories so expertly, you just fall in love with their characters.
you'll find wolves, tigers bears even a rhino in this collection. it's worth getting it to introduce yourself to multiple serials and feel if you like and love them just as so many others did!

Review: Twisted: A Fox-Shifter Romance

Twisted: A Fox-Shifter Romance Twisted: A Fox-Shifter Romance by Cara Wylde
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

what a start to this trilogy! my mind was going ten different directions but the revelation? O M G didn't see that one coming.
amelia is nervous, there is a fox shifter at the board school and she still hasn't been called in to be interviewed. this little fact has her in turmoil.
seth been sent to the boarding school to find a bride for the future Inarie. there was one who caught his eye but he wanted her for himself, so he avoided calling her in. as the day went on and all the interviewed girls/women proved to be unfit he had no other choice but to call in the one he didn't want to call in.
numerous written tests later seth just had to accept that amelia was to be the bride of the Inarie. how he was going to reconcile that fact with his own feelings and fox he didn't know. all his fox screamed was that amelia was his, theirs, their mate.

what happens when they arrive in alaska and blake stays the ever elusive inarie to be, almost leaving amelia to her own devices, left to explore the town, being drawn to seth like a moth to a flame.

will these two give in? to find out you'll have to grab the first part in this trilogy. it has a semi ending to this part of the story but it is very clear there is a lot more to this tale to come. can't wait for the next parts and read them!

Review: Under His Hand

Under His Hand Under His Hand by Anna Antonia
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

normally i love reading BDSM stories, seeing how other perceive it. if you want to read a few shorts in between they're not bad, however if you want to go deeper into this topic i do feel there is something missing. also would have loved to see a female dom, something most won't touch. sometimes the men came across a bot more like bullies then a Dom. overall it's not a bad read but would have seen a bit more "reality" to it with this genre being the new "it" thing to read.

Review: Still a Bad Boy

Still a Bad Boy Still a Bad Boy by Ada Scott
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

what do you do as still a green behind the ears reporter, sent in to try and interview the most elusive jace barlow, a self made businessman who got lucky with the lottery. you hope for the best and prepare an excuse for your boss when you get back empty handed, right? that's what kendall thought too when much to her surprise she's let into the inner sanctum of jace barlow.
jace is instantly intrigued by the young journalist sitting in his waiting room. normally he doesn't talk to them, not even briefly. but there is something about kendal that sparks his interest and he just has to know her, feel her, fuck her and make her his.
kendal is overwhelmed with the attention she's getting but she's unsure what to make of it all. despite her boss trying to stick another reporter on him, jace isn't having any of that. he only talks to kendall and her alone. as the days go by she thinks she's starting to get to know him, she knows he's someone you don't mess with, someone who doesn't shy back for putting another person in their place.
things around jace are going from bad to worse but he's handling "things" but one morning when he's doing just that kendal walks in on him and get the biggest wake up call of her life!
what will she do when the man she came to love turns out to be a cold blooded murderer?
that and many more questions need to be answered and this is only on the surface of this story! it's dark, it's gritty, it's an emotional rollercoaster for both kendall and jace.
what a ride this was! i couldn't put this down, i just had to know what happened. jade is a bad boy, a real bad boy, someone you don't mess with. i can't blame kendall one bit for falling for him, he is charming and direct. to see him battling his own demons makes him human. if you like a love story with a good backbone, drama, love, heartache but no cliffhangers, you will do well with getting this one in your library!

Review: Unwrapping Tess: Christmas Encounters

Unwrapping Tess: Christmas Encounters Unwrapping Tess: Christmas Encounters by Krystal Shannan
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

a quick visit over the holiday gives us a nice update on how everybody is doing. when tess and patrick meet, it's insta sparks but tess isn't initially happy finding her fated mate. she always thought she'd end up with a wolf, just like she is, not with a bear, what patrick is.
what's also on her mind is the fact she's an Alpha's daughter and she just doesn't want to mate with the aproval of her peers. it's not done even with the council no longer in working.
but the bond is already forming and simply can't be denied! how will these two "battle" it out to find their happily ever after?
you'll just have to pick up this sweet short but titillating read and enjoy it yourself!

Review: Broken Moon

Broken Moon Broken Moon by Catherine Vale
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

captured by Justice, Harley is tortured beyond belief. when they bring in a human in the cel opposite him there is an instant draw towards her. his wolf will do anything to keep her safe and that is just what he does. breaking through silver bars, killing justice guards, nothing stops him from getting her out, not wanting her to go through what he's been through. when he learns who she really is he knows he can't, shouldn't act on what his wolf and him the man want. both are telling him she's their mate. but he knows acting on it is like a death sentence all over because she is the daughter of his direct commander and if there is one rule it's not to mess with the boss' daughter, she's off limits.
that's not counting on her persistence to have what she wants, what she wants is hunter. why should her father be against her finally finding a shifter to be with?
if this was their only issue things would be solved easily but yeah guess what it isn't!
things really don't go easy, actually they go all kinds of wrong.
more order of protection. protection is just what we need and crave.
this was heartbreaking to read at time but i'm glad the story doesn't end with a huge cliffhanger. of course there is more to tell about these justice people but i'm sure future books will go deeper into that.

Review: Cabin Bear Heat Box Set: A Paranormal Fantasy Bear Shifter Romance

Cabin Bear Heat Box Set: A Paranormal Fantasy Bear Shifter Romance Cabin Bear Heat Box Set: A Paranormal Fantasy Bear Shifter Romance by Bella Love-Wins
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

after picking up their last friend, a group of friends get surprised by the weather and somewhat a bit lost. after crashing their car the friends decide to leave the car behind and make their way back on foot in hope of finding shelter.
luck is on their side when their are found by Andrew, one of the few people who live this far away. being the one who's injured, abby, is still being a trooper and trying her best to get by even with a badly sprained ankle.
andrew is conflicted with how he's reacting to abby. in a way he doesn't feel he's worth her attention but the attraction between them simply can't be denied. what's even more special is that abby doesn't seem to have a problem with him being a bear shifter!
this isn't a thriller drama book but is more focused on the emotional side of relationships. things get heated between these two on more then one occasion. it's only time they need to figure things out, whether they can make it work or not.
i really loved this telling of two people coming together. sometimes sweet and nice does the same trick. of course there is a little bit of drama, something has to happen to get them to wake up and see some sense.

Review: Thrill of the Chase

Thrill of the Chase Thrill of the Chase by Layla Nash
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

what do you do when a dish, perfectly prepared and flawless, gets sent back every single time? you bite your tongue. at least that is what most would do, not Natalia. she's polite, respectful but what she doesn't do is take crap from a customer about her cooking. if the dish isn't to his liking he can order something else.
logan is surprised that the cook turns out to be a woman. a woman who stands up to him and doesn't cower in his presence. it's refreshing and it's taunting him to be more rude then he'd usually be. much to the amusement of his brothers at the table.
the day after natalia is practically ordered to cook at a mansion, all expenses paid. when she arrives she's more then baffled to find out the man she's cooking for is the same rude one she put in the place the evening before. she knows the restaurant is at stake so she does her best.
he insists that she eats with him and his brothers, making it still a pleasant evening.
when he tells her he actually bought the restaurant and is giving her full reign, she doesn't know what's happening but she takes this opportunity with both hands. it's also a good incentive to put things in order because a lot of shady things are going on that are messing with the inventory and fresh stock of the restaurant.
that's when things start going from worse to bad. luckily logan is there to have her back and what started out as a dislike is quickly turning into something else. whether she can accept it or not is still a big question.
a very satisfying read, no loose ends. it's got a nice pace to the story, well built characters. i hope to read more of the brothers, they're all very different!

Review: Snowman

Snowman Snowman by Maeve Morrick
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

we’re back in alaska where things are hopefully cooling down, not literally! the old shifter calder has set in plan in motion but his first attempt didn’t turn out as he’d hoped. liam survived the change and is now mated to allie. ollie is barely alive, being blown to smithereens can do that to you! but calder isn’t giving up and sets more things in motion because he has his mind set to allie being his mate and the mother to a “new” race of older shifters.
that’s when a dark op force from outside thwarts his plans again!
not many survive, not even from the special force team!
what has calder planned? he’s leaving allie behind in favor of liam.
this is a thriller ride and hopefully in the last part we’re told who will get their ass handed to him! shifter or not, i wanna strangle calder myself. he had them fooled good grrrr

Review: Snowfall

Snowfall Snowfall by Maeve Morrick
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

the conclusion to this story is fast paced but satisfying! Calder is a nasty piece of work to say the least. but he’s also very delusional, cunning as he may have been he’ll be outwitted! partly succeeding in his plan, it still fails because liam steps up to help allie the same way she helped him when he got infected with the new dna.
how it all came to be you’ll have to find out in this last installment. if you were on pins and needles with this trilogy then you cannot miss this ending.

Review: Soldier

Soldier Soldier by Cass Reynolds
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Chase felt a bit bad about going back to the place his sister helped him escape from. but he couldn’t help it, his tiger had found his mate and he was compelled to go back and save her. but mercy wasn’t a helpless woman, she was a known human assassin. she wasn’t having any of the mumbo jumbo chase was talking about. fated mates, what a load of crap that is.
sadly his visit didn’t go unnoticed and seeing he’s normally said to be dead … you can guess that mercy got into a bit of trouble. but she didn’t hide and was honest about everything. the ringleader was dead set on getting chase back and set up a trap with mercy as bait.
chase felt mad that mercy didn’t want to escape, it puzzled him why she would choose to stay. not even his promise to keep visiting her until she agreed didn’t help his cause. when he’s corralled by a fallen angel, Vesper, he’s even more confused. the history between Vesper and mercy goes back decades. they’re bound together and as it turns out Vesper is basically her free ticket out of anywhere. that still didn’t ease his tiger, he didn’t understand why she’d choose to willingly stay.
taking the bait about the party being held that evening, both of them attend but in disguise. everything goes well, that is until chase sees the fresh whip marks on his back!
how far does chase have to go to get through to mercy? he can’t help but coming back, wanting her free and safe! no matter how many times Vesper could teleport him away, he’d be coming back again and again! will one last attempt convince mercy that he’s the real deal? that he’s not talking crap? that he cares?
what will mercy do?
emotional and action packed story! we learn so much about her past and more secrets. this isn’t just about shifters anymore. dying to know how things will turn out in the next part!

Draven is watching a fight but gets sidetracked by the beauty of one woman: Diana. Elusive as he is, he battles with his tiger about the woman. his tiger wants her for himself, he doesn’t want to give in, he doesn’t want to “condemn” a woman to being with a shifter. but fate had other plans, specially when after some verbal sparring they still end up together in his apartment. he had looked through her charade and changing tactics he confronts her about it. as it turns out the tiger shifter he’d seen fighting does mean something to her but not in the way he thought he would, it’s her brother and she wants to free him!
convinced he doesn’t want to help her he turns the tables, setting out to hurt her even despite his tiger trying to tell him otherwise. with hurt on her face she leaves and goes back to her traveling companions, explaining all what happened. then Draven steps in out from the dark. (his tiger is putting up a good fight to get his way and woman!)
after some convincing drake comes up with an elaborate plan to get her brother out.
to what lengths does draven have to go? will his tiger get his mate or will draven keep fighting that urge. diana on the other hand is slowly going crazy with the mixed signals she’s getting!
a quick escape story, figuratively and literally! a good addition to the amelie hunt present series!

Review: Nailed

Nailed Nailed by Ophelia Bell
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

amazon wouldn't grab my full review but here it is as intentended!
jade feels lost with emma paired off to a couple of handsome bears (and pregnant), her brother jasper has left as well to be with the woman and man he came to love deeply. she knew he was happy now but that didn’t mean she had to feel super duper happy herself. she just felt lost with nobody of her own. when emma’s mates return, the two bears who had been helping out now turned their attention to her. she liked it but she couldn’t agree with the submissive attitude the male ursa displayed all the goddamn time. she wanted someone who took control, someone who told her what to do, somebody who simply took without asking!
orrick and sten volunteered to show her the local wildlife and waterfalls. as they journeyed on jade grew to understand what made them tick, just like orrick and sten learned that jade wasn’t like a normal ursa female. days pass as they grow closer, yet jade can’t bring herself to claim the both very willing males, she can’t help but feel something is missing. needing to be alone for a bit she lets them venture out for a bit. not realizing the huge mistake she made when only hours later she’s hit head on with the heat waves of her first heat! trying to seek some relief in the water she nearly drowns until a pair of strong hands pull her out. jade’s not to sure what is happening but when she sees him all she wants is him, all of him! when he tells her of his own past, a few dots get connected. this ursa male, is aidan, the who supposed to mate emma but didn’t get there in time, then kidnapped autumn but her brother and his mate prevented anything from happening there. and now he ends up with her. he’s been disowned and made infertile. in her books that makes him the perfect male to service her the way she really wants! and boy did she get it, and again and again. days later she’s put on the spot to make the biggest choice in her life when Orrick and sten walk in on aidan and her having special times and things coming to a violent explosion.
will jade be able to make the right choice? or will she go for an unconventional choice, just like her brother and niece?
i’m a bit sad that story is over, rather the serial. i could see so much more happening in the future with other characters, even with the ones we know now. if you enjoyed the previous pairings in this serial, you will not be disappointed with this one. the stakes are high but the rewards are ….

it quickly becomes clear there is a lot more at stake than meets the eye.

Silvanus is on edge. he’s feeling like he’s lost a lot of power since Tucker stood up to him. since the pesky ranger found himself a mate he’s been stronger, luckily not realizing how strong he really could be. still it all unsettled Silvanus. that’s until he came across a beautiful woman at the park, she had his cougar belly up the moment they saw and smelled her. but being against humans (unlike tucker) he battles internally with his desire to be near her. convincing himself he has to stay away and has to find the girl he imprinted on as a young boy. only Gabs is able to help him because she’s the only other one who figured out he was the cougar that saved them when they were young. Gabs is reluctant to tell who her friend is but when she does reveal who she is and that she’s even in town, silvanus is thrown for a loop. his cougar being the smarter one, he already figured out that Hailey was theirs. how will he get back into her good graces having been rather rude to her? how will he come clean about who and what he really is?
the local bad boy may have found his match. only his standing up for her makes his pack exile him. will he turn from town bully to the town outcast? will he be able to let hailey see the real him? how will the others react to the big change in silvano?

ben is mostly happy, living out in the swamp, he knows with the way he looks he has no other choice. unless he wants to be captured, poked and prodded and probably end up dead because science wants to figure out how a sasquatch looks on the inside. until he runs into the screams of a woman who very clearly fell into a dug out pit in woods. pulling her out, he doesn’t know how fast he has to make a safe distance, but that doesn’t hold the woman back from wanting to reach out.
Elena more or less felt a bit blackmailed by her aunt to visit her. as she falls into a muddy a hole, a honey voiced stranger rescues her. the day after baked sweet start appearing at their doorstep. at the same time her aunt is trying to tell her something important, something about looking better at people, seeing their true nature, their bare soul so to speak.
both ben and elena are drawn to each other like a moth to a flame. but ben has a hard time thinking that elena can accept him for what he is, yet she doesn’t show fear, not a single time. all elena sees is a handsome, kind and caring man.
things come to a heated confrontation as a local female sasquatch managed to lure some of the local were animals to attack tucker and brock and their mates. things go bad real quickly, elena tries to help the best she can but it isn’t until her aunt steps in that things change.
having been alone for so long i’m glad to read that Ben will get his own HEA in this last past of the trilogy. it isn’t all sunshine as he battles with himself and the insecurities that come along with being who he is.
it’s a sweet (literally) read, just hope elena doesn’t burn too much, a little something tells e she may be magical but not when it comes to matters involving food.
you just have to grab this book to complete the series and see how the bigger story through them all gets concluded!

Prowl - Winter Pass Wolves Book Three Prowl - Winter Pass Wolves Book Three by Vivian Wood
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

chase is hard pressed to contact the one woman he can’t forget, but his sister is kidnapped and his friend paxton is too antsy (he’s her new mate). she doesn’t beat around the bush and tells chase how it is. when they meet up a day or so later he’s in for the shock of his life. the woman he loved, the woman he walked away from because she was a Hunter, who let him walk out, is now a shifter herself. as she explains the hunters as they are today are even worse since her uncle took over after her father died. with chase reaching out she may have a shot at the plan she’s been concocting ever since she’s been a glorified prisoner and guinea pig. with her own life at stake she does her best to get some vital information to chase, together with the urgency that the big pow wow has to go down asap. her uncle as ordered her to get pregnant by the shifter who accidentally turned her and they want fur babies to test and enslave.
getting the urgency, plans are made and set into motion. the big question now will be will everything work out as planned? probably not!
the agony they have to go too, i know this is the last book in the serial so we know they’re getting an ending, but i’m not so sure it’s so easy to get! in fact you get a double ending!
if you liked reading the other two in this short serial, you just have to get this one too, it just makes it a full circle for them all.

Growl - Winter Pass Wolves Book Two Growl - Winter Pass Wolves Book Two by Vivian Wood
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

paxton was down and sulking, remembering chase’s sister Brooke. the three of them were deployed when out of the blue Brook let him know they no longer were an item. years later the triad is back, all changed. battling their new identities Chase didn’t warn his sister they were back in town. when Brooke sees them, she can’t help but act shocked as she rushes over to greet them and scold her brother.
things don’t really get much better when it’s said that Brooke is getting married. trying to be nice Chase invites her to the lodge. that wasn’t counting her soon to be mother in law, aka dragon from hell. she took it upon herself to invite a whole bunch of people.
going with the flow chase just let it happen. during the gathering it’s clear that Brooke’s fiancé isn’t good for her.
paxton sees it all happening with a heavy heart, the moment he laid eyes on her again his wolf was going mad, she was their mate! try as he might, he can’t help but be drawn to her, even stand up to her ass of a fiancé. when he doesn’t get the response from Brooke he wants he tries to drag her away from chase and paxton. paxton’s wolf had other ideas and before he could do anything he shifted and attacked the fiancé. big was the surprise when he shifted into a cougar!!
the biggest surprise was for Brooke, suddenly everyone seems to be able to shift and she’s caught up in it all!
it’s time for her to come clean and she tells them why she suddenly broke up with Paxton, why she’s forced to marry someone she didn’t even like, forced to act like a whole different person.
thinking this is the end of their problems, we couldn't be further from the truth!
how will the triad react to all what is happening? Will chase contact the one person who can help them?
so much is happening, i’m on pins and needles to read the last part of this serial. there is such a fast pace to the story, you just want to know what happens. give part three already!

Bitten Bitten by Ophelia Bell
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Jasper is feeling lost. having followed his niece in search of their respective fathers, his sister and him nearly ended up dead. if it wasn’t for the “sacrifice” his niece made, they wouldn’t be alive today. from what little he’s told, the ursine world was a lot different than the human world he’s used to. like seeing his niece mated to not one but two werebears AND pregnant. she needed to do this to have enough magic power to save them. her two mates were sent away to guard the magical borders but Autumn and Gunnar promised to take their places so the tried his niece had formed would be complete. this left him in turmoil since he couldn’t get either of them out of his mind. seeing these two together has him all hot and bothered. as gunnar finds him in the bushes and confronts him he doesn’t even deny a single thing. it’s like gunnar knows him better them himself. pulling and pushing the two men have a heated moment, gunnar secretly hoping that this could make jasper take that one step. but jasper turns out more stubborn than he thought.
jasper is forced to confront his feelings head on when his sisters tells him she won’t be mad if he follows his heart. his niece has her own few things to tell him. it’s a touch and go moment when Gunnar is all excited to talk to him assuming autumn had a chat with him, only he hasn’t seen the beautiful woman since their dalliance in the foliage hours ago.
it’s do or don’t for jasper as gunnar sets of to find her.
what will jasper do? will he listen to his heart, like his sister and niece told him? or will he hang on to his stubbornness?
you just can’t help but care about the bears in these stories. the troubles they went through, the changes they’re trying to make. they are changing, no doubt about that, but the yellow brick road comes with many dangers!!

Review: Clawed

Clawed Clawed by Ophelia Bell
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Emma is furious at first, another scientist has as good stole all her basic research. on top of that when she has to get on stage to talk about her own work, she manages to trip and make a fool of herself. embarrassed to the tenth degree she tries to drink her sorrow away at the hotel bar. the other scientist approaches her and offers to swap research, unsure whether to believe her. as she’s offered the research on a thumb drive, she’s quick to return the gesture. back home she has a serious discussion with her nephew and niece. the added research confirms so many thing they were already thinking. with both their fathers missing they’re, at first, divided on what to do. in the end the decide that repeating the annual walk they did with their father is the way to go.
after a day long trek through the forest, they’re surroundings are changing, old stories surfacing and making things fuzzy.
delirious, bordering on passing out, she notices two shadows following her. first cold, now feeling hot she mindlessly strips one layer of clothing after the other, giving her two shadows an eyeful.
making the last few steps are just exhausting and just as she made it past the border she loses it. that’s when her two shadows make themselves known, helping her. it doesn’t take long for her to register that her body is changing, she feels hot, feels likes she’s horny. too horny. but her two companions help her cope, they explain what they can in very shady terms. calling her princess all the time is confusing to say the least, same as the revelation that her mother is not far away. a mother she never knew!
as this tale progresses she meets her mother and aunt, finds her father and uncle. but not to forget, she got separated from her niece and nephew. this sparks an outrage at the court and a big search is set up, they weren’t supposed to cross over.
in the midst of all this so much is told and revealed. then she has to make the biggest choice in her life. will she help out the clan? will she choose personal happiness?
she can’t just abandon her newfound kin but she can’t just give up on her happiness either.

this is well written and sucks you right in. i expect nothing else from Ophelia.
it’s a thrilling tale and i can’t wait to read the next part and so how the others are doing. maybe have a small revisit to Emma and see how she is doing.
