About Me

@ home, behind my computer, Belgium
I'm a rookie writer enjoying the flow of words sprouting out of my fingers. Sometimes it goes easy, at other times it's a real struggle. I love and crave any kind of feedback, good or bad. I write when I can, but a husband, two kids, 4.2 cats (aging from 15 years to 4 months) do take up most of my time. Yet I found the time to try out something I never thought I was good at. I started writing. I came to love it and enjoy the new friendships I've made with fellow writers I simply adore (well I like the writers, but adore their work *grins*)

Linking!!

Poo! I think I got them all working so it doesn't feel like I'm abandoning everybody. I've created a page for Mokkelke on FB and linked everything with it : twitter and this blog. Since I spend a lot of time on FB anyways it was a bit overdue.
If you want to stay update I'd suggest you go on over and hit Like!
Mokkelke FB Page
Writing is coming slowly, think it will be september before I can get back to the normal pace of things.I've started something new, to kind of force to get back into the writing groove. Doing searches at the moment but I have a bit written already!

Overdue update.

The title says it all. This is long overdue but an update is warranted after my long absence.
I had things so nicely planned out, even with the short break from Adam and Bron. I had started their chapter 14 but put it on hold since I wanted to have it right.
As time went on it didn't sit well and after thinking it over I joined up for campnano together with Elaine/Mazuri. I dusted of an old story I promised to write for someone and campnano gave me a nice goal to work towards and I made that goal. I'm only a few chapters short of having it finished.
At the same time I worked on a few musings Nulli posted on her blog. They turned into a short story that is currently undergoing its final edit, once that is done I'll make it a free ebook on smashwords.
Then came the biggest blow, my laptop died and I had no back up.... something I should have done ages ago, I know.
A lot is lost but there is more I could get back from a few good friends and I had all but one chapter up on the blog here.
I've learned my lesson and I'll be backing up on a regular base now!!
My plans for the future are :
1 finish the nano story. it's "a new world awaits", a few chapters have been on the blog briefly but since I started working on it, I pulled them. Depending how things turn out they may come back.
2 if in the meantime i get the edit back for "picture perfect" I'll work on that free ebook.
3 get back on track with SIW. Though there haven't been new chapters posted, I have been working on it. Most of it will have to be redone, including background and details i had penned down in a separate file... Ed's story is being worked on, detail wise at least and Merlin and Lis have their start written as well.

I hope the holidays (aka kids) are kind enough on me to give me the time I want to write and research!!!

Once the ebook is up and running I'll be sure to get the link spread around.

Chuck Wendig flash fiction Challenge.

Chuck Wendig flash fiction challenge was brought to my attention by Mazuri. had some fun looking at some of the pictures that were revealed by the secret door. one captivated me and made a little flash fiction with it. so here goes my secret door challenge.

James cursed under his breath as he stood in the tiny kitchen area, watching the comings and goings of his little town. The stranger was back! Riding a palomino, the man sitting on it was tall, his hat shaded most of his face but didn't hide his strong jaw and the dark stubble covering it. He watched him stop in front of the only saloon his town had. The muscles strained against the worn fabric as the stranger dismounted. James cussed again, he should not have these feelings, they were forbidden and certainly not accepted.

He followed the strangers movements as he gave his horse a once over, stopping next to its head and scratching him behind the ears. The stranger turned as if he felt he was being watched. James froze as they locked eyes. A second later the tall man tipped his head in greeting and disappeared into the saloon. Relieved James let out his breath and took a few steps away from the window.

"Damn that man!"

He stomped through his little house swearing even more at how these few glances always made his rock hard. He didn't want to give in but his pants were brushing painfully against his hard flesh, he just needed to get some sort of relief if he were to get outside and act as his station demanded. Tugging his pants open was almost a relief on its own but he knew that wasn't enough, he needed the tension to be gone as well.

His cock sprang free and his hand gripped it firmly, some clear fluid had already escaped and coated his purple head. Rubbing over it he then used it as lubricant to help ease his firm strokes as he quickly moved his hand. He gritted his teeth as the emotions washed over him. His seed spilled over the dusty floor, he didn't care, nobody visited him anyways. His cock went limp and he tucked it away, calmed that for now he could step outside without embarrassing himself.

He was about to turn the knob on his door when there was an insistent rapping on his door.

"What is it?" he said as he pulled open the door. He looked straight into the scared face of one of the waitresses from the saloon.

"There's this stranger and he's making a fuss over some payments, claims he paid but Hoss tells he hasn't. Can you come over?" The little chit was trembling.

"How is he making a fuss?"

"Threatening to tear the place down if Hoss doesn't serve him what he paid for…"

"Lead the way, I'll sort this quickly."

He followed her across the street and through the saloon doors. The stranger was casually sitting at a table, eyes locked with Hoss, who in turn was pointing a rifle at the stranger.

"Hoss, put that down before I toss your ass in jail!"

"What? This fool comes in here, orders food to feed an army then refuses to pay! Like hell I'm letting him get away with that, I want my dimes. You should throw his ass in jail for trying to fool me!"

James turned towards the stranger. He didn't look guilty, more like amused and very relaxed.

"So, mister, what's the hang up?"

"Bill's the name. I'm quite sure I put my hard earned dime on the counter before he got me my food but if he claims otherwise and I have to spend a night in jail, so be it."

James was surprised. Bill was practically asking to be thrown into a cell.

"Amanda here told me you threatened Hoss. That alone could would warrant a visit to my jail, I have a low tolerance for things like that in this town. We like things peaceful. So if Hoss says you haven't paid, I believe him." James turned toward the other man. "Now put down that pea shooter and I'll have him sit in the cell for a night. You'll get what is due to you in the morning, one way or another. Ok, Hoss?"

Hoss only nodded his agreement before slowly lowering his rifle.

"Bill, handcuffs or not, your choice, but you're coming with me."

James watched how Bill stood up and stepped closer. He was well over six feet himself but Bill was easily half a head taller than him. He was patiently waiting for him to put some cuffs on him, his stretched out hands indicating his compliance. Without saying a word both men crossed the street. James held the door to the sheriff's office and waited for Bill to enter. The tall man stood in the middle, watching James intently, one end of his mouth curving into a smile.

"I promise not run or escape," Bill came closer and bent down a little, "and if you leave these on I'm at your full mercy, you can do to me whatever you want for as long as you want."

James didn't move an inch as the words sunk in and he tried to make sure that it were Bill's lips he had felt brushing over his ear.

"Hey, I know how things are in this godforsaken town, but four years I've been through here and every single year I yearned for you more and more. For all they know I'm in your jail. They couldn't care less. If you check my breast pocket you'll find the cash that Hoss dude is after and some extra. I just needed a way in."

James eyes grew wide, he couldn't belief this, the implications. He could have this man, and nobody but them would know about it.

"I'm not sure just one night in jail would give me enough time to do whatever I want."

"I can be bad and earn some extra days."

James grabbed the cuffs and led Bill to his cottage, only one door away.

"Your ass is mine!" is all James said before Bill turned and kissed him sensless.

I blame Elaine!!!

Looking at the badge to your left you'll see someone in particular got me crazy enough to take part of it, at least the relaxed version of it.
For this to happen I've taken down A New World Awaits since I plan to do an overhaul on it and make it a slightly shorter story as intended but with CampNano I might actually finish it in just a month. As I was checking my file I noticed it had been over 2!!! years since I worked on it at all. I wasn't 100% happy with the route I was going in so hopefully I'll get it on track and finished within a month.
And last but not least one promise to Ho-Z full filled!
Clicking on the badge will take you to the story page so you know what it is about and a few words from the start of it.

Where am I?

I'm still around, things are settling down. Sadly the spark I had writing wise just doesn't want me to focus on Adam though the rest of the story is already mapped out mentally. There is a lot of emotions involved in the last chapters and I think I just lack the peace and quiet I want to focus on those emotions. Those that love SIW would agree I'm a sucker for all the emotional stuff that goes on and well I'm a perfectionist!
Now for the few that still keep tabs on me on FB, twitter or here (I know I should start posting more here again too) may have come across some musings. These are happening on Nulli Para Ora's blog. Quite a few of us are partaking in them. I've made mine into an ongoing story that will take on the twists provided by Nulli's picture. So far there are 6 pictures up under musings which results in 6 smallish chapters.
I'd say hop on over and let yourselves be drawn in by many different takes on the same picture.
And I promise I will do my best to get Adam and Bronwille together as they're meant to be.

Women of War by Lisa Beth Darling.

I wait and wait until finally Ares graces me with his presence. I play a little with the notepad perched on my lap, pencil trembling in my hand. Carefully I follow his sturdy move designed to show off his tall lean muscular frame. As he sits down on his Throne of Bones, I wait some more, secretly hoping he would start the conversation. I was wrong, I received an inspection from head to toe and the tugging at the corner of his mouth showed he liked what he saw.

Taking a deep breath I picked up my courage and started the interview:

Ares, thanks for letting me interview you in your own home. It's nice and warm here on the island. Any particular reason you're not staying on Olympus anymore?

Thank you for coming, Lisa always speaks so highly of you, any friend of hers is welcome in my home. (Lounging back on his Throne of Bones he lets his dark eyes wander around the well-lit cave with its burning torches and massive hearth). It's not much but we like it.  As to why we're no longer on Olympus, my Son, Raven, has caused of a bit of trouble to the tune of nearly a hundred million dead. (He sighs deeply and shakes his dark head) Not even a God can turn back the hands of time but we—Raven, myself, and my Sister, Athena—will be going into the Mortal World to see what damage control we can do. For now, the island is home-base.

I heard Lisa has finished another installment of the "Of War" series. I've had the privilege of already reading it and I must admit it answers a lot of questions from previous books. Were you ever aware how big a role you played in it? And would you have changed anything if you had the power to do so?

No, I thought it was the ramblings of a desperate woman, Shar, I mean. Even when I saw my Family in her mirror I thought it was a hallucination. But she was beautiful and willing, oh so willing, so I gave her what she wanted. (With a wide smile full of pride, he points to his crotch with open hands). In return, she freed me. Would I change anything? No, as I said not even a God can turn back the hands of time. As ugly as it may have been, everything happened as it was meant to.

Do you think you'll ever set foot in the Dark Kingdom, the home of Maggie? (Having read the book, I now know how he blocked all this from his mind, he should remember it all again too.)

No, I promised Shar that I would never return and, at this point, I see no reason to go back on my word.

Does your wife know you remember this?

(He sighs again and clears his throat) I don't know what she remembers, my Wife is very secretive when it comes to such things.

What will happen if Zeus ever finds out? I mean, he's convinced Maggie is from the Dark Kingdom. If you read this book, one knows he is right.

(Unexpectedly, Ares stands up from his Throne of Bones rising to his full height of 7 feet and looms down) My Wife is from the Golden Lands like her mother and her mother before her.  As for my Father he can go….(His nostrils flare as he takes in a deep breath and lets it out slowly) I think our time here is done.

Ares leaves the room angry and I sit here stunned, cursing myself for even bringing up his father in this interview. Knowing my time ran out I set about packing up my stuff, just then I hear a soft rustling of fabric. Turning around I see Maggie coming towards me.

Maggie: Don't think the interview went as well as you hoped?

It went fine until I happen to mention Zeus.

Maggie: *laughs* That name alone can make him lose his temper. Ares and his father can barely tolerate each other.

The door behind us opens as Ares rejoins us, his temper is still very visible but he also cooled down. He rounded us both and stopped next to Maggie.

So how do you feel about this new book from Lisa "Women of War"?

Maggie: She always does such a wonderful job for us, doesn't she, My Love?
Ares: (Opens his arm and waits for Maggie to come to him before closing it around her shoulders and seeming to calm down a bit) Yes, she does.

I can only imagine how hard it is to read your own past, but doesn't it help to fill in some of the blanks?

Maggie: I suppose it does, it was nice to see my father, Norman MacLeod, again if only for a little while. (The smile on her pretty face turns sad as she leans toward her Husband's brawny body and rests her head on his broad chest) Of course, some things are best to lie still and forgotten.

Do you think if Raven read this book he'd understand more why his uncle is trying so hard to be his best friend?

Maggie: I think he already knows. I think somewhere deep inside of him he's always known but was blind to it.  (Her gray eyes swell and redden with tears absently she dabs the first away from the corner.)

(I can see Maggie is having a hard time with this one so I decide not to press for more answers as I finish packing up and say my farewell to both of them.)

EXCERPT Rated PG—book is ADULTS ONLY:

"Not so fast ya bastard," Norman shot.  "You want my daughter?  You'll have to fight me for her."  He unsheathed his sword to brandish it bravely at the Great Horned God.

Maggie's fluttering heart skipped several beats.  "Da!  No!"  She tugged on his arm as hard as she could trying to pull him back toward the gate that was suddenly closing.  "No, he'll kill you!"  Then Maggie understood why he brought her out here.  If he won, she'd see his great victory and know she didn't have to be afraid any longer.  But, if he lost, Cernunnos wouldn't go storming through the village to get to her, killing and wounding every person he came across as he went.  She stopped pulling and fell quiet. "No."
Norman kept his eyes on Cernunnos even as he sank to his knees to plant a kiss on her cheek.  "Go over there, stay out of the way, girl."
"I love you, Da."
"I love you too, now go."
Wiping away a tear, Maggie sprinted away from the emerging battleground to stand near the cold stone wall surrounding the castle and its small village of angry citizens.
Cernunnos clasped his hands to his bare chest and over his heart as he sighed and shook his head.  "How touching."  He feigned wiping a tear from the corner of his eye as he let out another mocking sigh. "Mortals, you're always so sentimental."  With an icy glower, the cloudless night sky began to stir as clouds thickened, blocking out the sparkling stars.  He raised the Staff of Life and pointed it at Norman.
"Why don'ya do it like a man?" Norman challenged as he stood straight, tall and proud with his chest jutting out bravely and the thick muscles of his arms standing at attention.  He waited but Cernunnos didn't answer him so Norman taunted him further.  "Oh that's right, you're not a man, you're an unholy abomination.  A cowardly one at that, pickin' on little girls."
While finding the offer tempting, Cernunnos found Norman's defiance distasteful and egotistical.  That made the irate father an unworthy opponent.  Letting a shockingly bright ball of energy fly from the tip of the staff, he smirked.  "That wasn't part of the bargain."  Norman tried to evade it but he was too slow and the Great Horned God took off his head with one blow.  The headless body of Norman MacLeod, sword still in hand, crashed to the grassy land just outside the safety of the Castle MacLeod as his head rolled down the hill toward the babbling brook.
In unison, inside the castle looking out from a high window where Elizabeth watched her husband fall and outside the castle where Maggie stood not ten feet away, they both screamed out in anguish; "NO!" Elizabeth fled down the stairs on weak legs as Maggie ran to her fallen father on legs just as weak.  She fell to her knees next to him, threw her little body over him and began weeping as she held onto his lifeless hand.

Also to celebrate the release of this story Lisa would like to giveaway 1 ebook copy of "Women of War" to go with this post. Leave a comment, preferred device and your e-mail address, we'll pick a winner from one of you (my daughter's innocent hand will pick one) and I'll make sure you will get your copy. Closing on midnight friday 8 februari 2013 CET (hey I live in Belgium ;-) ), pick winner on Saturday and forward the winner to Lisa.
